MIDNIGHT'S STORY

Midnight, often called “Midnighty”, passed away on July 13, 2010, a little before midnight after a brief but rapid illness for which he was treated extensively but it was just his time to go.  He was a very sweet old gentleman with the distinguishing feature of his ears going in somewhat different directions.

Midnight’s history is unknown but, as is the fate of many unfortunate kitties, he ended up as a stray behind a busy store.  Behind the store he began lifelong friendships with a few other feline waifs.  The group stuck together and managed to survive, even with the great odds against them.

Their luck changed when a kind woman set up a feeding station and brought them food and water on a regular basis.  They continued to bond together and kept going through cold winters and hot summers.  Even in blizzards they snuggled together for warmth and the woman would trudge over the snow to their feeding station with supplies.

Then bad luck hit again it became necessary for them to be removed from the site!  Most of the small group were seniors in the “semi-feral” category – and we all know their likely fate.

At that time Midnighty and his friends were brought indoors one at time for a well-deserved comfortable and safe retirement.  Never once did they think “we’d rather be outside again…”  They played together and slept together and maintained their bond.  No longer did they need to spend all their energy on simply staying alive.

Midnighty will be greatly missed – by both his feline and human friends.
