POOKA'S STORY

UPDATE May 2011:  The Pooka is now being officially adopted by his foster mom, along with his friend Jerry.  The Pooka has been happy in this home for well over two years and now he is assured of spending the rest of his life with the woman he loves!

I am a very affectionate, very large white cat. I have large pink ears sort of like a bunny. Have you seen the old Jimmy Stewart movie "Harvey"? In it there is a very tall invisible rabbit referred to as "a pooka". In the movie the dictionary definition is read as: "Pooka. From old Celtic mythology. A fairy spirit in animal form. Always very large. The pooka appears here and there, now and then, to this one and that one at his own caprice. A wise but mischievous creature."

I am just as adorable as Harvey, the pooka in the movie, with the added benefit of being totally visible! You will find me irresistible. I am the only pooka here at Helping Homeless Cats – and I’m very unique and very soft.

If you get down on the floor with me and lean towards me I will head-butt you and then rub noses. Rubbing noses is my favorite way to show how much I like you. was brought to the Pound as a feral and then the nice lady there, Kathleen, discovered that I was a real sweetheart – and the rest is history.

I’m a very healthy and happy guy. I love to sit in laps and cuddle. I also like my alone time for long naps. If you are gone for many hours at a time I will take that opportunity for some really enjoyable naps.

I get along well with other cats. There is always that adjustment period where we get to know each other, but I can probably work things out with most cats. I’m an indoors kind of guy. I like the luxury of a nice comfy warm place to hang out. Being a white cat, too much sun can be dangerous for me – so it’s particularly important that I stay inside and it’s fine with me.

I am friendly to everyone, even those I don’t know well. I might be able to get along with older children. I’d love to rub noses with you so please come and meet me. I am in a nice foster home now and love sleeping on the bed. I love my foster mom BUT I would like to get a permanent home soon so I can begin a forever relationship
