TEDDY BEAR'S STORY

UPDATE: April 2011 We have very sad news.  After a month of happiness in his new home, Teddy went into extreme renal failure early Easter morning and Helen had to rush him to the vet.  Our time with him was much too short.  His “forever home” turned out to be only one month – but it was a month of unlimited love and cuddling and we are happy that Teddy had this time.  Also, his mom Helen was with him till the end and we are grateful for her devotion to Teddy.  We are sorry she had to go through this loss but she says she would not give up the month with Teddy for anything.  He was a very special little guy.  We are also grateful to Cheryl who helped with our care of Teddy.

UPDATE March 2011:  Teddy has a wonderful home with a wonderful lady Helen and her cat Chevy.  They are both seniors and live in a quiet retirement community.  Teddy sits on one of her knees and Chevy on the other!  Teddy has found his dream-come-true in this “luxury spa hotel” with “two best friends” (as we can interpret from his increased chirping and purring!).  He is the happiest he has ever been.  His advanced age did not stop Helen from taking him into her home forever.

Hello everyone.  I am the Teddy Bear and I am a senior neutered male who had a pretty good life until a while back.  I found myself alone and in the country near a farm and stables.  Not sure how I got there, but it was quite a shock.  The nice people at the stables let me stay there out of the snow and rain and I was glad to get inside out of the mud.  I once had luxurious hair and it had become matted from my unfortunate time in the great outdoors.  They thought I might eventually leave and go home and that I was just visiting, but really I no longer had a home…

I am now inside a big house where it is warm and cozy and I have my own area.  Cat beds are quite unfamiliar to me and I am not used to the soft easy life so I prefer sleeping on the floor on a fleecy blanket.  I can go anywhere in the house I want to, but for now I prefer coming back to my own space and at my advanced age I love long naps and prefer to go to bed early.

I have the sweetest face and I chirp!  I am happy in a sense since I know better times are ahead, but I am still a little sad at the loss of life as I knew it for many years.  I will not tell you about those good times because it reminds me of losing that – so I will tell you about my dreams of the future instead.

I am going for a haircut and later you will see photos of my makeover – although it will not be complete until my fur grows back in by summer.  I hope to soon have a foster family and eventually a permanent home with someone who will love me.

The vet says I am a healthy old boy except for a thyroid problem for which I take Tapazole every day and also take a potassium supplement.  I really hope you will come meet me.  I love petting and will chirp for you.  You can pick me up and hold me, but I need a little more time to get used to lap-sitting.  I would love a warm indoor home.  If you are home all the time, that is great as we can nap together!
